How to Study for Certification When You’re Busy

You are here: Home / Certification Tips / How to Study for Certification When You’re Busy
October 7, 2019 by David Woodruff

No one has free time to study for certification. If there is extra time in your day, someone will fill it for you if you have no free time but have certification as a goal you will need to find opportunities to study. Fortunately for you, studying in small short chunks is more effective than studying in longer sessions. Thankfully, using the strategies below will be more effective than how you studied for your nursing degree.

Studying for certification.
Studying in the library

In college, many of us went to the library for extended periods to study. During long study periods, many concepts were reviewed or introduced, allowing your brain to consider them at a superficial level. Studying in short bursts presents one idea at a time. Your subconscious mind can then find a way to organize that one concept into your memory. It is more efficient and more effective.

There are opportunities to study for certification that you have not considered. Could you review flashcards for five minutes while eating breakfast? No time for breakfast? How about listening to the Certification Coach program on your way to work? The Nursing Made Incredibly Easy books are designed so that you can read one page and get a lot out of them. There are many opportunities throughout the day to find five minutes to study. Using those opportunities will lead to the effective integration of the concepts needed to pass the exam!
